AAJ KI DELHI / INDIAN NEWS ONLINE :
NEW DELHI, June 4, 2020---Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the “Delhi Corona” App, launched by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 2nd June, 2020 with much fanfare, has turned out to be a non-starter as despite the availability of beds in hospitals earmarked exclusively for Covid-19 patients (according to the App), these hospitals were not admitting Corona cases, to betray the people of Delhi. Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal had claimed that the status of beds in these hospitals will be updated twice daily—at 10 a.m and at 6 p.m--through the newly-launched App, but this is not helping the Covid patients in any manner.
Addressing a Video Press Conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Ch. Anil Kumar said that in the last one week alone, there has been a 35 per cent spike in Covid-19 patients in Delhi, as 8389 new Corona cases were reported with 303 deaths (officially acknowledged), but patients were still not being admitted in hospitals. He said that Delhi was now in the third position in the number of Covid-19 patients in the country, with 23645 cases and 606 deaths as on 3rd June, 2020. He said that from just one case on 2nd March, 2020 Delhi has witnessed a sharp spike in the number of Covid deaths and patients over the past few days due to the total failure, insensitivity and incompetence of the Kejriwal Government, whose approach in tackling this deadly virus was flawed from Day One. Ch. Anil Kumar said that the number of patients and death rates have gone up sharply during the lockdown period and after the relaxation of the lockdown norms without any proper planning and forethought.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that one Amarpreet has been tweeting since 8 a.m today seeking help from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in the Government in getting her Corona-patient father admitted in a hospital. She said that she was standing outside the LNJP Hospital but the hospital did not admit him, though according to the Delhi Corona App, more than 1100 beds were available then in the hospital and her father died without getting proper treatment.
Citing the example of another patient, 72-year-old Mohd. Suleiman, a resident of New Friends Colony, Ch. Anil Kumar said that this gentleman knocked the doors of 10 hospitals on 2nd June, but he was turned away by all these hospitals. All this while, he was kept alive in the ambulance for several hours by giving him Oxygen, but he too eventually succumbed due to lack of treatment in a Covid Hospital.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when he visited the Max Hospital, Patparganj, late in the night to help Shankar Mehrolia’s aunt, who was not well, the Delhi Government App showed that 80 beds were available in the hospital, but the hospital refused to entertain the patient, saying all beds were occupied, despite my pleadings with the hospital authorities. Ch. Anil Kumar said that these were not isolated cases as he was getting calls and complaints from several patients who were not getting admission in hospitals despite having vacant beds. He wondered why is Kejriwal, who claims to be “Dilli Ka Beta”, hiding when the people of Delhi are facing their most testing times of their lives.
