The world is suffering from the deadly infection of Coronavirus. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the infection as ‘pandemic’. The early symptoms of this deadly infection are high fever, shortness of breath, tiredness and dry cough. So, the entire world is under lockdown to break the chain of COVID-19 with certain precautionary steps is to be ensured. The contemporary ways to sanitize oneself is the 20 seconds formulae of hand wash or using disinfectant containing at least 60% alcohol, avoid touching surfaces and handshakes and no unnecessary contacts. The use of mask and covering face using napkin or elbow while coughing and disposing the napkin would add an added advantage.
We all know that sanitizer containing good quality alcohol can kill most of the germs, bacteria and viruses including fatal Coronavirus . In a research, it was found that the Coronavirus can survive for 3 days (72 hours approx.) on surfaces like steel or plastic.
Now , the question arises whether any face masks or covering mouth with any cloth helps to prevent Coronavirus from invading our body ?
Firstly,  I want to let you know that no mask can provide 100% safety from Corona Virus. There are different types of masks available in market and most common of them are Surgical masks and Respirators.
They  act as a barrier to prevent the foreign body from entering our body, but the main difference between them is that Surgical masks are used only to prevent dust particles or large particle droplets that enter through our nose or mouth while Respirators can prevent vapours, airborne microorganisms, fumes or particulate matter that enter through nose or mouth . But as we know that the virus can enter our body through eyes so the person wearing a spectacles or googles can help prevent Covid19 to enter body to some extent . As spectacles or googles are left open from its sides so virus can reach our eyes easily. Hence, it is advised to stay at home and take precautionary steps while stepping out of home. The frontline workers including police, media persons,  essential service and sweepers wear face shield along with N95 masks to safeguard themselves.
Surgical masks are mostly used by people who are not into any essential services as these are not designed to protect the wearer from breathing in airborne bacteria or viruses. Coronavirus is smaller than the PM 2.5 cutoff but bigger than some regular dust particles and gases. These masks can be used by a person with weak immune system or suffering from chronic health diseases. Persons dealing with severe respiratory or breathing issues are more prone to get infected from coronavirus, hence it is advisable for the infected person to use face mask as well in order to protect others from getting infected. The use of masks is also recommended to healthy person from getting infected. Surgical masks are of three types-: 2-layered surgical mask , 3-layered surgical mask and 6-layered surgical mask
The protection also depends on the number of layer, more number of layers contribute more protection. A 3-layered mask is better than  2-layered masks, the cost of 3-layered mask is also higher than 2-layered mask. While the 6-layered masks are best till now as it can protect us from some of the viruses but cannot protect from SARS CoV-2 to enter the body This type of mask is loose-fitting and virus can easily enter through the opening sides. And one more drawback is that it is not having any particular side from which a person have to wear it. So as a human it's common to make mistake and use different side to wear while reusing, keeping it anywhere after using can spread risk of virus at that particular place and without knowledge of its proper way of wearing help the virus to enter the body. Also, the outer layer of the mask consists of virus and accidental touching can lead to the novel coronavirus.
As mostly surgical masks tend to be disposable, it get wet due to water vapours generated during respiration,  that means they need to be replaced with new mask or washable 6-layered mask, washing it with 60°C hot water with a disinfectant to kill the germs can help in reusing them.
Respirators are used by health professionals as they are having contact with infected person quite often. These are at a risk of getting contaminated by infected person that's why they use it along with face shield to be more secure from the Coronavirus. N95 mask is most common respirator consisting of filters that can prevent 95% i.e 0.3 micron airborne particles. It is a type of mechanical filter respirator and is better than any type of surgical mask. Respirator is tight fitting and have no opening , it protects in a better way. It protects us from most of the viruses which enter from mouth or nose openings but still protects against SARS CoV-2 to small extent. When someone around us coughs or sneezes then the germs or droplets exhaled can stick on a person's clothes or long hair especially in women, so the hair must be covered with a cloth while going out and changing clothes after coming back to home is recommended. For men too keeping a long bushy beard and facial hair are also prone to Corona virus so best way is to avoid going out or to keep short or no beard on face or clean it after every outside tour. It contains valve which releases unfiltered air when the wearer breathes out, hence the spread cannot be stopped just by using respirator.
So along with respirator, using a sanitizer is must, to clean our hands from time to time. A respirator cannot be reused and after a particular time period of usage it becomes difficult for us to breath through it and it indicates the time to replace or dispose after use. Most of the doctors and nurses who are curing the Corona patients use surgical masks, face shield, Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) kits and respirator to get best protection. No doubt, for full day wearing casuse skin irritation and problems especially in the summer season, discomfort due to sweat on the human body, but still to save life and to contribute the nation, the Corona Warriors are doing their best work to keep us safe during this crucial period.
Therefore, for the common people, the best way is isolation and social distancing. Mask is better than no mask. A common man must keep physical distance from everyone and use sanitizers to kill the microorganisms on hands and wrist. Infact if we apply some sanitizer over the mask before using then the germs which stick will be killed at the moment and the mask will be more risk free. And if a person is having any symptoms of COVID-19,  then he much contact the health care team or can go to a hospital for checkup. As prevention is better than cure, all things must be kept in mind to fight this virus. If tested positive than he can get cured. Either the person has good immunity or   should intake healthy foods for boosting  immune system, for example, Citrus fruits, broccoli, garlic, ginger, spinach, curd and almonds are best immunity boosters, drinking plenty of normal water everyday also help in keeping our body fit. Immunity system helps in recovery.
If we, common people maintain social distancing and use just any cloth mask or scarf or just simple 3-layered or 6-layered, it is enough with respect to follow all precautionary measures then there will be no problem as such balefully.
That's why Stay Home, Stay Safe, Stay Healthy & Stay Fit and the world will soon defeat this Coronavirus.

THE 24X7 NEWS

There are many definitions of the term natural, but the consensus seems to be it is something that has been directly obtained from nature; i.e., a plant or mineral. Each time this natural material is processed, it becomes more synthetic—so the fewer processing steps, the more natural something is, and vice versa ... everything can be traced back to nature, so in fact, every material is naturally derived to some extent.
There are many different certifying bodies that measure whether a material conforms to its definition of natural but the most popular certification usually varies from country to country. For the sake of the present article, I will be reviewing a natural product that follows the global natural ISO 16128 standard.
Guerlain’s L’Essential Natural Glow Foundation claims to contain 97% naturally derived ingredients (according to ISO 16128 standards). Additionally, Guerlain touts that the foundation offers a glowing finish on the skin that lasts for 16 hours. The coverage is light to medium but is buildable if higher coverage is desired. Other claims include skin hydration, anti-pollution protection and a reduction in the appearance of imperfections.
The brand recommends, when applying this product, to first pat the face with a clean makeup brush to "awaken" the skin. Then, after a layer of primer, users apply the L’Essential Natural Glow Foundation by depositing it directly on a makeup brush—one drop for light coverage, or two to three drops for medium coverage. Next, dab the foundation onto the face at five points: forehead, nose, chin, and left and right cheeks. The product should then be patted and blended from the center of the face outward until the result is even.
Examining the product’s ingredient list, I have highlighted raw materials that I believe are contributing to the performance claims:
Ingredients: Water (aqua), C9-12 AlkaneGlycerinPropanediolPolyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Silica, Titanium Dioxide [Nano], C15-19 Alkane, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Polyglyceryl-2 IsostearateCoco-Caprylate/CaprateDisteardimonium Hectorite, Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate, ParfumCaesalpinia Spinosa Fruit Extract, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Citrate, Xanthan Gum, Alumina, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Cellulose, Potassium Sorbate, Kappaphycus Alvarezii Extract, Polymnia Sonchifolia Root Juice, Citric Acid, Butylene Glycol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Maltodextrin, Lactobacillus, Tocopherol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, [+/- CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77947 (Zinc Oxide)].
Editor's note: While the "Read the Label" series provides an overview of the ingredients cosmetic manufacturers use and their related claims, without use levels or access to clinical studies, the author is drawing conclusions based on speculation—albeit from training, formulating experience and, in some instances, evidence in the literature. The following is offered for your consideration and further verification.

C9-12 Alkane (and) Coco-Caprylate/Caprate

This is a natural solvent that also goes by the European INCI name of Coconut Alkanes (and) Coco-Caprylate/Caprate. As the EU INCI name suggests, it comes from coconut oil and is a clear, colorless and odorless solvent. It dries quickly and is a good natural replacement to cyclomethicones D4, D5 and D6.
It was easy to apply, it spread nicely over the face and it blended well into the hairline and neck.'

Glycerin

This is one of those ingredients that most brands use. Whether you're mass market or prestige, it’s a cost-effective material but it works well. When I formulated skin care, I would always add a bit of glycerin—typically 5% but it depends how you want the product to feel on the skin, as adding too much can make your formula feel tacky and sticky.
Glycerin is the third material in the ingredient, list which gives me confidence that the main claim of skin hydration is coming from this material. Glycerin not only works well for hydration, I also have found it helpful as a formulation aid—when mixing xanthan gum into a formula, I would often premix this with glycerin to form a smooth paste and then add it to the water phase to stop agglomeration and lumps from forming.
In this foundation example, and if the pigments are hydrophilic, they could be mixed into glycerin and then added to the formula to, again, prevent any lumps from forming when mixing. To ensure an even distribution of pigments throughout this foundation, homogenization must be carried out, ideally through a triple roller mill.

Propanediol

Usually derived from corn, this is a natural, colorless solvent. Propanediol is a humectant that draws moisture into the skin. Propanediol also has preservation-boosting properties, which means in some cases you can lower the percentage of preservative used in products and still achieve safe challenge test results. As most preservatives are synthetic, adding a natural preservative booster like propanediol and lowering your level of preservative is a way the formulator can increase the natural content within a formula according to the ISO 16128 standard rules.

Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate (and) Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate (and) Disteardimonium Hectorite

This is an emulsifier I have used before in the lab. It is a w/o emulsifier that’s designed for use in formulas that contain little or no silicone. What I liked about this emulsifier was that you could get lots of different textures from it—anything from a thin, stable emulsion with excellent suspension like this foundation, to rich creams and lotions—just by increasing the concentration. Using it in cold process formulations may save on production costs and, in turn, lessen environmental impact.

Titanium Dioxide [Nano]

This is the main inorganic SPF filter used in this product. It’s a nano grade, to avoid a whitening effect on the skin. Many natural certifying bodies will not allow the use of nano materials, so it’s interesting to see that this is okay per ISO 16128 standards. The material does come from naturally derived sources but it is synthetically treated to remove impurities.
The other inorganic pigments used within the formula will contribute slightly, to give a higher SPF rating. An important thing to note here is that on the ingredients list, titanium dioxide is listed twice—once as an SPF ingredient (titanium dioxide [nano]) and once as a colorant (CI 77891). This is because two different grades are being used. One has a small particle size, i.e., the nano grade; and the other is used to provide color in the foundation and has a larger particle size. For decorative cosmetic products marketed in several color shades, all colorants used in the range (other than those intended to color the hair) may be listed according to their color index (CI) number.

VP/Eicosene Copolymer

This water-resistant film former I strongly believe is contributing to the 16-hour claim on this foundation. It’s oil soluble and is commonly used in color cosmetics and sunscreens to improve wear and to reduce transfer resistance. This material can help with pigment dispersion and is known to boost SPF when combined with organic filters.

Parfum

It’s interesting to me that this foundation contains fragrance but I expect nothing less from the Guerlain fragrance house. I have used a mascara from Guerlain before (Cils d'Enfer So Volume) that had a rose scent, which was an unusual but pleasant surprise. On Guerlain’s website, it states this foundation contains a musky wood fragrance with a white almond top note. The middle note contains white tea and the base note is sandalwood.
While the product is still wet, it does smell like any other foundation I’ve used; i.e., that typical iron oxide smell. Once the product dries, though, the fragrance is much more noticeable although not overpowering. It is slightly powdery and the subtle musk aroma makes my face feel clean.

School is very oppressive': why home-schooling is on the rise ...

Ajay Kapoor remembers how more than a year ago his daughter Mannat, then 13, would clam up during 'that time of the month' in front of him. "She used to get very scared whenever she had left 'red marks' on the sheets. She would rush to her mother, convey what happened in a hushed tone, and both of them would hurry to change the sheets. There was so much guilt attached to menstruation. Even I was uncomfortable talking about menstruation, puberty and bodily changes with my daughter," says the 47-year-old owner of a US-based healthcare firm with Indian-based operations from Nagpur.
This continued till his wife Jyotika, an Access Bars Facilitator (BF), happened to collaborate with Mumbai-based sex educator, Anju Kish, on a project. Kish, author of How I got my Belly Button, also teaches sex ed through her company Untaboo. That's when the family learned about the concept of sex education and Kapoor, his daughter and elder son Ankit, each attended separate Untaboo workshops. That broke a communication barrier. Suddenly the family was able to have more 'matured' discussions, using the words 'testicles', 'penis', 'vagina' while talking to each other without feeling coy.
"The other day I asked my daughter, now 14 years, for a glass of water. She told me to excuse her as she was experiencing period cramps and finding it difficult to get up. Seeing my girl express herself so freely is just beautiful! Even Ankit has became a lot more natural, respectful, and understanding towards his sister after learning what a girl goes through when on her periods. And today, my wife and daughter openly discuss about infatuations to body shaming in front of me. Not in a corner," Kapoor shares he and his brother were left to figure things on their own as their parents never spoke to them about sex and sexuality. So he finds it enlightening that he's able to advise his son how to take care of his genitals and contraception and safe sex. In fact, this president of the Nagpur rotary club recently invited Kish to give a Sex-Ed talk to its 200+ members, which he says, was extremely well-received.

Elephant very much in the room

Just as the increasing number of stay-at-home, divorced, single, remarried, same-sex and adoptive dads are giving the heteronormative concept of fatherhood – traditional breadwinner and rule-maker – a good kick, Indian fathers are gradually learning to educate their children about sex education. But talking about 'sex' is still a taboo in many Indian households. This includes talking about appropriate and inappropriate touch, same-sex love, contraception, bodily changes around puberty – menstruation and erection, child sex abuse (CSA), consent, etc.
"My husband still hesitates to have these conversations with our two sons (20 and 16 years old), and puts the onus on me, after he's seen me discuss these subjects for so long," admits Kish, who says the number of dads attending her Sex-Ed workshops has gone up from 1-2 dads, when she started these eight years ago, to 3-4 now. Dads have told her they feel embarrassed, awkward, don't know how to articulate, and even dismiss the whole subject saying 'we figured out all of it on our own and so will our kids'. "And when they do talk about this, they only explain the physical and biological side and not the emotional, social, gender-sensitive parts to it."
Like 18-year-old Niyati Sharma's dad, a consultant for the FRRO. She says he does make an effort to talk about these issues, especially since this Delhi girl is the one behind the Pratisandhi initiative that promotes Sex Ed among the youth. But with a bit of hesitancy. "When I was in Grade 7, he just came up to me one day told me it was normal for me to like guys. That inherently taught me should I ever like a guy, I can tell dad. He has also talked to me about consent, the right to say no. But much of our conversations has been about his concern that I am a young girl educating people on sex. It's mostly 'be careful' and 'don't give your phone number to everyone'. While I feel I can have those talks with him if I feel like, I see he's more comfortable talking to my brother about girlfriends, going on dates, etc." dates, etc."

Educate a man, educate a generation

These hiccups do prevail in certain pockets of the Indian societal fabric, agrees Dr Rajan Bhonsle, MD, Hon Professor & HOD, Department of Sexual Medicine at KEM Hospital and GS Medical College. It is usually when the mother is a homemaker, and the kid gets to spend more time with her after school, while the father comes home late after a hard day's work and is very tired. Then there are those who themselves carry a bias towards sex and sexuality. "Such men hesitate to talk to their daughter about periods, and tell the mother to do it because 'she will be more comfortable with you telling her as even you get your periods, etc.'" But he disagrees in generalising this attitude, and says many dads are taking the lead in being concerned about the well-being of their child's sexual health. "As a teacher of sex education and a sexologist, I took the lead to teach our son. Many single, widowed or divorcee fathers have brought their children to me when they've faced sexual issues, and I've educated them and they are doing a good job," adding its a 35:65 ratio of men to women who register for his Sex Education course, "mainly because the classes are held in the afternoons, difficult for working men to attend."
Kish remembers a parent who attended her sex-ed class, and came back overjoyed to tell her how he knew exactly what to do when his daughter experienced period cramps – a hot water bag, some soothing words and a bar of chocolate. "That girl is growing up knowing there is no stigma or embarrassment attached to these bodily changes." At one workshop, a young girl shared how she told her dad that she'd been feeling uncomfortable when boys of her age were staring at her developing breasts. "The father told her how, when he was growing up, even he must have stared at the growing woman's body, 'out of pure fascination for this thing we didn't have'. He suggested she should act normal, and carry on the conversation so the boy ultimately starts to look at her face."
Sometimes, a little nudge from the wife in terms of sensitivity is all it needs to start a revolution. Take the case of father and businessman, Alexander John, 44. John's wife had attended an appropriate/non appropriate touch session two years ago at NGO Arpan. She then started teaching age-appropriate sex education to their son, now 5, and two daughters, now 3 and 8. At first, John just sat through these talks, not knowing what to say. Then watching the wife speak and after she explained to him why even he needed to get involved, "it suddenly felt like the most natural thing for a parent to do. Now together we tell the kids why some parts are called 'private', how no one apart from my wife and I are allowed to bathe them and touch them there while bathing – except when its a checkup with the doctor, and that they can just get up, scream and tell us if they are uncomfortable with someone. Today I'm able to have these conversations with my kids on my own."
In fact, a spurt of child sex abuse cases in media, shortly before
#MeToo broke out, horrified John enough to message on his children's school (Ascend International, BKC) WhatsApp group for parents and invite those who wanted empower kids to defend themselves. That's how Champions for Children (CfC) born. The group now has 40 dads who are working with NGOs and organisations to address CSA. One of their main activities is developing a range of apps, complying with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act (POSCO). For instance, schools will be able check if a teacher has an CSA complaint against them, and using the home app, parents will be trained to spot signs of CSA in their child.
What fathers can do
Apart from visiting a counselor or a sex educator, try to find the right moment to break the ice. "If a scene on live-in relationships comes up on TV, you can casually ask the child their views on it. It gives the child a window to talk, and you the chance to slip in you values and together start a discussion. Sex education is not only about 'sex', but so much more," advises Kish. Speak with openness and minus judgment to indirectly create an environment that feels like a safe space, advises Sharma. "This will make the child feel they can come and talk to you if and when such a situation arises."
Sex education should begin from the day the child is born, and how you touch them while bathing, dressing them gives out subtle signals, feels Dr Bhonsle. "If you have any biases about private parts, say, if your one-year-son is touching his genital because he's curious and you snub him, it will give him wrong signal. So be loving."
Fathers should have a similar understanding after having caught their sons watching porn, instead of getting livid and pulling the child to her, says Kish. "Don't make a child feel guilty for watching porn. If you scold them, they will make sure not to get caught. Instead, tell your girl that she can say no to sex, or any act. Tell your son that the way women are treated in porn films is disrespectful, that porn shows a purely physical, carnal, and emotionless act, has no consent or contraceptives used. An an average couple has sex on mutual satisfaction." She adds that also, don't get angry or try to hush it out when your child tells you they've been abused. "Before you do anything, including action against the abuser, first tell your child it's not their fault, because it is not."

No one wears an offbeat outfit better than Soo Joo Park. The model’s ability to take on tricky-to-pull-off trends has made her an essential part of both classically-minded Chanel shows, and kitschy Jeremy Scott runway presentations. Off-duty, Park’s wardrobe is the stuff of dreams, brimming with one-of-a-kind Chanel pieces, vintage sourced from around the globe, and an excess of statement accessories. Under normal circumstances, such bold fashion would be captured by street style photographers, but since the COVID-19 crisis began, Park has taken her eclectic approach to dressing indoors.
Currently at home in her New York apartment, the South Korea-born, California-raised model relies on uplifting colors and quality materials to stay comfortable. “I’m trying to keep my spirit up by wearing lots of pastel tones and bright shades,” Park shared with Vogue via email. “I only wear fabrics that stretch or are soft and luxurious to lounge all day in.” Her guidelines allow for variety—as long as there’s no denim. “Since the third day of quarantine, I haven’t touched any jeans,” she says. “They are usually my go-to.” Here, Park offers a recap of a week’s worth of looks, from breezy silk dresses to Zoom-worthy costume jewelry.

The idea of staging runway shows during global COVID-19-related lockdowns might seem impossible, but instead of giving up hope, the fashion industry is envisioning new ways to communicate in a time of crisis. This morning, the British Fashion Council announced a new version of London Fashion Week that will occur during the previously scheduled dates for London Fashion Week: Men’s of June 12 to June 14, 2020. Instead of physical shows, London Fashion Week will be entirely digital, with content rolling out on londonfashionweek.co.uk.
Caroline Rush, the chief executive of the British Fashion Council, said in a release, “by creating a cultural fashion week platform, we are adapting digital innovation to best fit our needs today and something to build on as a global showcase for the future. Designers will be able to share their stories, and for those that have them, their collections, with a wider global community; we hope that as well as personal perspectives on this difficult time, there will be inspiration in bucket-loads. It is what British fashion is known for.”
The types of content that might appear on LFW’s site could range from a digital lookbook to a brand video to a written-out designer Q&A or even a podcast. The diversity of the offering will be related to what designers are able to produce during self-isolation, and will also reflect a new strain of branding, marketing, and communication that has taken hold during the pandemic. Instagram Lives, social media posts, Zoom conferences, and direct-to-consumer e-tail have only become more integral to fashion brands during this lockdown period, showing that direct engagement with customers and fans is more essential than ever—especially if the stories shared come with a letting down of one’s guard. If fashion was once considered an exclusive industry, the quickness with which it has adapted to low-key, digital communication, like kitchen table livestreams and fan-submitted Q&As, has proven it to be highly adaptive and inclusive.
The LFW digital platform will also contain virtual showrooms, as per a release, that will help connect brands with retailers, adding a business component to the week. Rush also said, “It is essential to look at the future and the opportunity to change, collaborate and innovate. Many of our businesses have always embraced London Fashion Week as a platform for not just fashion but for its influence on society, identity, and culture. The current pandemic is leading us all to reflect more poignantly on the society we live in and how we want to live our lives and build businesses when we get through this. The other side of this crisis, we hope will be about sustainability, creativity, and product that you value, respect, cherish.”
